Teaching and Leading Wisely in a World of AI

Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping the world our students inhabit—and raising important questions for Christian educators. How do we respond without fear or hype? How do we use these tools wisely ourselves? And how do we help students navigate AI in ways that support their learning, relationships, character, and faith?

Beyond Policies: Forming Students for Flourishing

For Christian schools, these questions go beyond simply creating technology policies. Policies are important, but policies alone cannot form students. They can create the space for flourishing environments. Environments in which students are invited to think deeply, build meaningful relationships, practice discernment, develop character, and grow in wisdom. As AI becomes increasingly woven into students’ lives, Christian schools have an opportunity to consider not only what boundaries are needed, but how we can form young people who know how to use these tools faithfully and wisely.

This is why JOMO(campus) centres around more than technology use. Our focus on cultivating Christ-like virtues helps students develop the character they need to navigate a changing digital world with purpose. Virtues like wisdom, self-control, humility, love, and joy become especially important in a world of AI, where the easiest or fastest option is not always the wisest one. As technology continues to change, these virtues provide an enduring foundation, helping students move beyond asking, “What can this tool do for me?” to consider a deeper question: “Is this helping me become the person God is calling me to be?”

And as we help students develop these virtues, we also want to equip the educators who are walking alongside them.

A Custom AI Framework for Christian Schools

JOMO(campus) is excited to announce a new partnership with Paul Matthews, school leader at Calvin Christian School, TEDx Speaker, and author of Wise AI. Paul has spent years researching AI and helping educators and school communities to navigate the challenges and possibilities of AI in education. At the heart of his work is a passion for creating space for deep work, deep thought, deep rest, and deep relationships—not just a faster life, but a more human one.

Through this partnership, JOMO(campus) schools are equipped with a four-part professional development series to move faithfully into the future: faithful to God, faithful to the vision, mission, and values of their school, and faithful as a pastoral presence among their students.

The four modules explore:

  • Philosophy: the big ideas we need to get right to use AI wisely

  • Principles: practical strategies to use AI effectively

  • Capability: what every teacher needs to know to navigate AI effectively

  • Students: how we lead and guide our learners through AI

The four-part approach has already resonated with those following the conversation around AI and education. As one commenter noted when Paul introduced the series on LinkedIn:

“A module specifically on how to lead and guide learners through AI rather than just how to use it yourself is the piece that makes this genuinely useful for educators rather than just another tech training.”

Preparing Educators to Lead in a World of AI

AI will continue to evolve. The tools students use today may look very different a few years from now. But the need for wisdom, discernment, character, and deeply human relationships will remain.
